Hope everyone had a great weekend. I know Sharan Jayne did. Congrats on your little MIRACLE grandson Kieran!
LOTS AND LOTS of fabulous things came in last week. Everyday Wear from Spirithouse came so there is all the techno pants and tops at a low price. The beginning pieces of Elemente Clemente arrived and there are beautiful tops for $135 that come in the most beautiful colors of blues and whites and some of their great pants. Anarkh sent the last of the order and there is a gorgeous herringbone jacket so perfect for fall. We got the quilted overnight bag for just $125 in lots of colors and some other totes that zip at the top for good security along with a padded pocket for all of our electronics from Sondra Roberts, AND, if all that was not enough we got some of the most beautiful dresses from Heydari. So beautiful two were sold as we opened the box. Sometimes it is good to be standing here when shipments come in. We still have SOME pieces of Jason, Sun Kim and Comfy but of course they are going fast so try and stop by soon.
The jewelry sale ENDS at closing on Thursday night so if you want a piece from Angela Caputi, Sissy Yates, Jesse Walker or any of our other fantastic jewelers now would be the time because it will all go back to regular price on Friday. And you know I am strict about these things. Really it would be a great time to get some holiday shopping done early.
The clothing part of the sale is still on and will be until the last of it is gone so don’t wait too long as sizes are going quickly. There are still pieces that will brighten up your summer wardrobe as you travel in August or perfect if you are just sick of your summer clothes. You know the ones you bought in January!
PLANET, PLANET, PLANET. We are gearing up for the show next Wednesday
and Thursday so we are starting to get our fall orders in. Today we got the VENTED TEE (COOKIE, are you reading this?) in white, black, drab, heather and navy. It is a great tee for those of you who do not like the boxy tee and want something a little more fitted and a little more expensive I might add. If you love Planet definitely come to the show on the 6th and 7th. Leslie arrives at noon on Wednesday and we will be all set to show you fall 2014. ALSO, they are now presenting all the matte jersey in white so if there are pieces you love, you can do them in white for fall and winter. In Europe they are wearing white all year round now, EVEN heaven forbid, white SHOES! There are still a few pieces of Planet on sale too.
Below is a picture of the one necklace that Annemieke can make into SEVEN that she will present in the store on September 10th and 11th. She will have all her new pieces as well as her fantastic stand bys in all the great colors.
Anarkh is coming on Monday, September 29th and we will have a Kedem show but the date is not fixed yet.
We saw Magic in the Moonlight this weekend, Woody Allen’s new movie, and it is not Manhattan or Annie Hall but it is very cute.
Now for the new item I want to put into place in this last spot. I love that for a lot of you Upstairs on 7th is a community where we support women in business. As you get a new job, open a new business, have a gala you want to advertise, email me all the details and I will put it in the email as the last item each week. This way if you WANT to read about these things you can choose to do so or not! We have two fabulous items to announce as we launch this new part of my weekly email.
Grace Gottlieb, who many of you might remember if you came to my original store up some stairs on 7th street, was the gift buyer and one of the designers at Apartment Zero and then went to Timothy Paul Bedding on 14th Street. She is starting her own design firm with partner Veronica Revilla, Design Diagram DC, and below is their brochure. If you are looking to freshen up your home or finally thinking about redoing your living room or moving, I would call these two talented women.
On September 22nd, Nora Pouillon will be honored and gently roasted for a great cause in honor of her 35th anniversary. Restaurant Nora was the first organic restaurant in the United States and is still one of my most favorite restaurants in town. As I always remind her, when I was just 30 years old, Restaurant Nora made so much news that I heard about it in Cleveland and made a reservation a month in advance when I knew I was coming to DC. All these years later, to call her friend, is a most happy coincidence. Of course I am going so if anyone wants to make up a table email me and we can have a great night out! http://www.chefsroast.org
Have a great week, come see us soon!
