New Arrivals and SAG Fashion

We got lots of new things in last week! Great jewelry from Periscope Studios that I always just blindly buy and wait for her to create. Here is what came this time:

Dress to Kill sent lots of good jumpers and camp shirts in seersucker and cotton. The camp shirts are all different fabrics. This is the best shirt for summer ever.

unnamed2

We have lots of Annemieke latex necklaces in right now so you would have your pick of the colors and there are lots of white ones, my personal favorite.

All the Ray Harris is in now so you can see his lined chiffon dresses and his new “panama” fabric dresses in beautiful navy. Of course you can order them in any color you want. We also got a beautiful red dress with separate white lining so it is like having two dresses in one. Pictured below is the gorgeous handkerchief dress available in any color or sleeve length and the rag lace skirt and jacket. Very on trend. The Heydari pull on pants are here with lots of beautiful tops to go over them or they are just good to have for any top or sweater.

PLANET looks great for spring as I have said but there is a small group of gabardine that is on sale at 50 off and Lauren is not making gabardine for next fall, so now would be a great time to add these timeless pieces to your wardrobe. We have a great little swing jacket pictured below if anyone is interested.

Anyone going to the movies before the Academy Awards? I saw Still Alice and there is a reason why Julianne Moore is winning every award. She was fantastic in it. It is a very good movie and the good news is, to most of the people reading this, that we cannot get early onset alzheimers because we are too old. Isn’t that great?

We also saw the Imitation Game that we liked very much. Everyone was very good in it and it was interesting to find out something new about WWII. We saw The Theory of Everything a while ago and loved it.

The SAG awards were last night and there were some great gowns as well as a few bad ones. I am not sending a picture of Meryl as I always do because she didn’t look great and she didn’t look like she was going to a barbecue either (remember that time when she did?) she just looked ok. Plain black vee neck dress good for maybe a luncheon.

My absolute hands down favorite was Julianne Moore’s green beaded dress. The color with her hair was amazing.

My next favorite was this red dress worn by Sofia Vergara. She looked amazing but she always does!

Lupita Nyong always takes chances and it always works out well.
I thought this dress was interesting and beautiful. She has not worn a single bad dress yet. Whoever her stylist is we need her! Or at least Jane Fonda and Meryl need her.

Felicity Jones looked very very pretty in this simple pink gown.

I liked this green dress on Patricia Arquette a lot. She looked really elegant.
And her speech was great

Naomi Watts has it together when she dresses up. Did you see her in St. Vincent? She was great and the movie is really good and funny and touching. Bill Murray makes good choices when it comes to the movies he does. I watched Lost in Translation the other day again. So good.

Ok, I STILL feel bad that Viola Davis didn’t win for best actress for the Help.
All I have to hear is the music from that movie and I start to cry. When she tells that little girl goodbye, well ok I am crying thinking about it! She won last night for best actress in a drama. Her speech was great and she looked fab. I think she works out more than me.

Memo to J-Lo: this is what a beautiful slit dress with a train looks like. Not that mess you wore to the Globes.

I liked this dress that Keira Knightly is wearing. I like the color and the lace over her baby bump looks lovely too. Not that horrible Amish dress she wore to the Globes.

Reese Witherspoon should wear red lipstick more often. She looked great.

Those were my faves and there were just a few dresses I was not in love with.

Emma Stone wins for riskiest dress but I think she pulled it off. And beside she took a risk at the Globes in that pant suit with the big bow and I forgot to put it in my column. So she wins twice for riskiest. Her skin looks amazing doesn’t it?

This dress I actually sort of liked but I thought the color was a little too bright. I was so glad Uzo won because she was genuinely thrilled and she is a riot!

These next ones are so bad.

Quiz: who is this? If you guessed Amanda Peet you win!
It doesn’t even look like her, does it?

If this were longer I would wear this because you know I love big clothes but Rosamund Pike is gorgeous and little! And YOUNG!

I think Rashida Jones was wearing her curtains.

Jennifer Aniston has been showing off her boobs for the last four weeks already. The question is why? Get back to me on this but I don’t think she looks good in this at all.

Lastly, and it KILLS me to say this because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Juliana Margolies and she is always in my top top top likes fashion wise but while I love this color as you all know, I am not in love with this as it looks a little fussy for her. BUT she gets a pass because I love her and also she usually is dressed so well.

So that is it for all my snarky comments on these fabulous women. One thing we can agree on is that they are all really good actors. And I would be best friends with any of them!

Open Saturdays 12-5 so come down to see us!!
