Golden Globes 2016 and more!

It has finally happened.  The day I NEVER thought would get here:
CATE BLANCHETT has worn a bad dress.  I never saw this day coming. But sadly it has.  This pink number looks like a tablecloth with a lot of bad food on it. The little cape effect and the layers and the satin, well it just was the worst dress there. I am willing to forgive her stylist if you are, because at just about every event Cate is the BEST dressed woman there. The stylist must have had a virus or something. OR maybe she was trying to get fired. I don’t know but something was going on for sure.
(Before I go on,  you will notice that there are only going to be a few pictures because I do not have the right to reprint photos from the internet so just use google and you will see what I am talking about.  The few pics that I do include I took off my tv, very badly I might add.)
For an example of a beautiful, perfect for her age, pink dress see below: Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne was Miss Golden Globe and she looked so pretty.  (Did you hear that Katie Holmes is engaged to him?)
Amber Heard, Johnny Depp’s new wife also had a pretty pink dress on.
I loved Viola Davis’ dress.  The back was especially beautiful. Very very sparkly.

The woman sitting in the red dress just to the right of Viola Davis in this picture also had a gorgeous dress on.  It had two layers and it was really pretty when she stood up.
Helen Mirren looked amazing and her diamond necklace went down her back too.  Gorgeous.  And speaking of good diamond necklaces, here is a picture of J-Lo in one
and J-LAW in another.
I liked Jennifer Lawrence’s dress too.
If Helen Mirren ever has a bad dress day we can call it the Cate Blanchett effect!
My absolute FAVORITE was Lady Gaga.  She looked gorgeous.  Simple and elegant.
Side note: my cousin (who was switched at birth because she is a bio chemist that taught at Columbia and believe me that is not our family’s mo) went to a meeting sponsored by Lady Gaga for anxiety disorder.  In her real life she goes by her real name, Stefani Germonatta, and my cousin said she is very serious and lovely and professional as well as generous to fund this research.
Jane, Jane, Jane.  You looked like a big yellow bird of some sort.  I do not get her.  She is so gorgeous and always was and she wears the absolute WORST dresses to these events.  Even when she was young. Maybe God divides: he makes you smart, talented and gorgeous and he takes away the taste gene. Actually, not a bad tradeoff when you think about it.
Maggie Gylenhaal’s was not the worst she has ever worn, but not great. A lot of sparkles and dark flowers and a hair style from 1952.  It just didn’t work.  I was not a fan of Kate Hudson’s either.  Too plain and if it had a tail she could have been a pink mermaid.
Memo to Eva Longoria: you have a beautiful face and amazing figure, don’t wear flowers around your tush.  And that little peephole on the neckline was great if it were 1962.  You can do better than that and you have.  Lesson learned.
Oh, one more dress that I loved in white was the actress that plays Cookie on Empire. (Is that the name of it?)  She looked great and she was so excited.
Since George wasn’t there I give the best dressed man award to Leo Decaprio.  Since I am never going to see that movie I do hope he wins the Academy Award because Daniel Day Lewis didn’t do a movie this year and for so many other movies, Leo deserves it.  My brother said the Revenant is the perfect movie for people who like snow and beards. Seriously.
That is my wrap up for this year’s Golden Globes.  A little too long (the program and probably my wrap-up) and I didn’t think Ricky Gervais, who I do like, was very funny.  Let me know what you thought.
On other topics because I wanted to get the Planet email out yesterday and didn’t have a lot of time:
I saw Trumbo and it was very good.  I think Spotlight was my favorite movie this year. What was yours?  I still have to see the Danish Girl and a lot of you have not liked Carol that much so I might have to wait until it is on demand.
Angela Caputi for spring came in today.  It is really pretty and the colors are better in person than in these photos.  I also got a few pieces of the links bracelet that we have had before.
I was in New York at the accessory show on Sunday going around with jeweler Sissy Yates (and eating hotdogs!) and I found a fabulous clutch that you can have engraved.  I bought two of them for the store.  One says Republican on it and the other says Democrat.  On both sides.  You can order anything you want on it and they take four weeks to get.  One they had said Wife on one side and Happy on the other.  Or you could put Happy on one side and Divorced on the other.  Just saying.
One of their samples with kisses and hugs on it.  You could put your name on one side and have purse on the other.  For example Ricki’s on one side and purse on the other but with your name so people don’t think you stole my purse.  When they come in I will let you know.  Yes they are more money than my usual bags but not as expensive as all the stores in City Center are unless you don’t think $34,000 for a Dior bag is expensive.  Or $20,000 for the least expensive Birkin bag. Then these are lunch money.
The SALE is on in U7 TOO.  Be sure to stop in when you come to see Planet.
By the way the new spring styles from Planet are IN THE STORE NOW so you will have instant gratification!!
Did anyone order a white ruched knit Planet tank in size 2?  We got two in and we usually don’t order two of the size 2.  If you did, let us know and we will get them to you. Cautionary tale.  Make sure we write down what you want or you could see a similar message in emails to come.
Hope to see you today or tomorrow at the Planet show.  Don’t forget we are open on Saturdays 12-5!
OH BEFORE I FORGET!  I gave you the WRONG dates for the Ray Harris show.  He will be here on Thursday, February 25th!  Friday, the 26th and Saturday the 27th.  NOT THE TWENTY FOURTH.  Please mark your calendars!!
Have a great day!
Ricki
