Kedem Sasson and Niche Trunk Show Friday and a zillion other things!

I feel as if I have not written about a zillion things (and by a zillion I mean four or five) that have been going on because of all the shows etc. But before I tell you the zillion things, this Friday is the Kedem Sasson and Niche show. It starts at 11 and goes to 6:30. If you can’t get here during the day, run over after work and we will be here. He is back to his old fabulous self!
Now that I have that out of the way here is one of the best things that I have been waiting to tell you for two weeks.  First, the back story.
I have been going to Broadway shows since I was 14 and I have a list of all the 114 shows I have seen.  Only once have I ever seen an audience give a standing ovation in the MIDDLE of a song. That was in January 1982 just three weeks after Dreamgirls opened on Broadway and 19 year old Jennifer Holliday sang “that note” in And I AM Telling You.  To this day I remember the light shining on her as she took her bow all alone on stage as the rest of the cast stepped away.  It was thrilling.  Ok, that is the back story.  Here is the rest: my daughter Katy wanted to see The Color Purple when we were in New York two weeks ago.  I absolutely did not want to see it.  I read the book, cried from the beginning of the movie to the end, and when I am in New York for the market I don’t do shows.  I go to work, I eat dinner, I go to bed.  (Ok, somewhere in there I also manage to eat a ton of M and M’s because the M and M store is right next to my first stop and I cannot help myself.) But Katy was adamant because the director, John Doyle, is her favorite and she wanted to see Cynthia Erivo who I had never heard of. So for a treat I bought two tickets. Let me put it this way: while the rest of the cast is amazing, as you can imagine with the woman who plays Tastee in Orange is the New Black as Sophia and Jennifer Hudson as Shug, YOU HARDLY notice them because Cynthia Erivo is so amazing that, well, I am still talking about it two weeks later!  I tell you it has been 34 years in between middle of the song standing ovations and it was beyond words. She will literally take your breath away and I say WILL because you all need to get on the train and go see this play before this star leaves.  Everyone in NY that we told about it went and they were speechless too.  It is not as sad as the movie but you cry because you cannot believe you are hearing what you are hearing it is so stunning. I have seen some amazing plays and musicals on Broadway and I tell you RUN to see this if you are lucky enough to be able to get to New York.  I promise you will be so happy you were a witness to this play and this actress.
Do you remember this iconic Prada skirt?
I think Charlotte wore it in Sex and the City.  It is a very famous skirt and very hard to find.  So when I saw this skirt below I thought it was sort of in that category of everyday objects on clothes.  It is from a new designer New York 77 and there is a little vest too.  They also have a long skirt that can be made into pants with just a repositioning of a band.  These dresses are from NY 77 too.
Lots of Comfy, Sun Kim and Jason arrived.  If anyone needs scoop tees that are a little more fitted, we have them in black, white and royal blue.
Also some wonderful Comfy dresses like the crush one from fall but in light gray and navy.  Perfect dress at $155!
Lots of Dress to Kill came in so if you are a fan, now is the time to see a lot of styles.
The City Dance fundraiser Dreamscape is Saturday, May 7th and if a group of you want to go we could meet here first and have a little pre-party and go together. Let me know if you are interested in doing that.  Significant others are most certainly invited.  I think the invitations will go out soon so if anyone is interested I will make sure you get one.  We went last year and it was fantastic.  More importantly it helps girls learn dance who might not have the chance.  And what little girl doesn’t want that tutu? Or a pair of tap shoes?  We are all so lucky to be in a position to help others so let’s do it!
Did everyone watch the last episode of Downton Abbey?  I am so sad it ended.  I really loved the characters but I am so glad it ended the way it did. I think there could be a spinoff about the daughter-in-law of Lord Merton. She made Mary look like an angel!! SPOILER ALERT: Don’t read this bit if you haven’t seen it yet: I loved how they ended it with Edith outranking Mary.  Well done Mr. Fellowes, well done! So sorry to see you go.
We got in two more great colors in the throw on crush dresses from Austrailia.  The perfect summer dress to throw on with a sandal and a necklace from Annemieke and go.
I was in New York at the fall market two weeks ago and it is going to be a beautiful season.  So many interesting clothes and believe me I don’t always say that. It made it hard to choose.  We have all kinds of new lines coming in and lots of exciting news to share very soon.  Let’s just say that I made plans so that this store will be here a long long time.  I need a place to shop too you know!  We are planning all kinds of fun events too!
The sale merchandise is down to the lowest it will go: 70% and it will only be here until the end of March so come in soon and get what I like to call “free clothes!”
Hope you had a great weekend.  Happy big fabulous birthday to the gorgeous Mary Tabor!  This big milestone birthday never looked so good!
In Ray Harris, of course! Nothing says party like his beautiful clothes!
Many many more Mary!
The rest of the week is going to be so beautiful so stop by and come to the Kedem show! I will be here on Saturday from 12-5 too!
