Shows and holiday gifts at Upstairs on 7th

Even though we are busy with the holidays, like all good Americans who cannot stay in the moment, I am thinking about the great trunk shows we already have planned. First up, of course, is Planet.  Leslie will be here on Wednesday, January 10th and Thursday, January 11th. The sweaters are really special this spring season.

Two new spring Planet sweaters

On Thursday, February 15th and Friday, February 16th we are hosting Annemieke who is bringing brand new pieces made out of a different material. And they are gorgeous.  I cannot wait for you to see them. They were inspired by a painting Katy did.  (Katy is a really good painter and I had the most fabulous painting she gave me.  I had it framed and when she came to visit one time she took it!!  (When you see her tell her to give it back!)

Plastic necklace from Annemieke

Ray Harris will be here on Thursday, March 1st through Saturday, March 3rd.I have not seen his spring line so I am as excited as everyone else to see what he will come up with.  Last night his crush skirt dress was worn to a party at the White House.  He was quite happy to hear that.

We have a few more shows planned but I will wait to announce them when we get the dates.

One date we do have is December 18th for a fundraiser for the Ben Jealous/Susie Turnbull ticket in Maryland. Here is the formal invitation and a link to RSVP.  We will give 15% of whatever is bought that night to the campaign as well.  So it will be a fun evening.  I know so many of you know Susie but for those who do not I can vouch for how amazing she will be as Lt. Governor.  She has been involved in politics and non profits her entire adult life and has helped countless people.  We need more women in elected positions across all our states as well as the federal government. Feel free to copy and paste the invitation and send it on.

Back by popular demand is our size necklaces from Annemieke and the the  “dry clean only” tags necklace.  I wear mine together and it never fails to get compliments.  We only ordered three of each so if you want one let me know by email if you cannot get in right away.  Don’t panic if we run out as we can always get more.

Don’t forget we have lots of small gifts and lots of socks for stocking stuffers.

We saw Nina Simone: Four Women at Arena Stage the other night and it was really good. Go see the Vermeer exhibit before it leaves in January.  How he makes the clothes look like real fabric that is almost translucent is beyond gorgeous.

A huge thank you to my friend Teresa Vilmain for the great Chanukah gift. You can all share in it if you hurry before I eat all the m and m’s myself!

Speaking of “rock stars” (I am not one) she certainly is. Google Teresa.  OMG. Talk about accomplished.  Talk about generous.  Talk about how many people she has gotten elected. Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack called her a true American hero.

Our friend Elaine Mensah has a new ebook out that you might be interested in if you are in business.  She has lots of great ideas all the time.  She is the writer, producer and director of the movie I was in a few years ago The Politics of Fashion:DC Unboxed.

Don’t forget we are open on Saturdays from 12-5 and SUNDAYS until Christmas Eve from 12-4.

Have a great weekend everyone.
