Our Winter Sale and lots of news at Upstairs on 7th

Happy New Year to everyone!  Hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

I am writing this on Wednesday night so as you are reading this it may be a blizzard out there and by that I mean an inch on the ground which is what DC considers a blizzard, right?  Or not.

The Planet samples AND our stock is in the store right now and it looks really good.  There are some smaller more fitted sweaters in lots of colors and the sweatshirt material pieces are fantastic for the weekends.  There are some good linen shirts in wonderful colors and their ruched leggings are still the best around.  Leslie will be here on Wednesday and Thursday next week, the 10th and 11th, and no one styles Planet like she does, so we hope to see you but as I said we have the samples here already. (Is that a run on sentence or what?)

I love this double v dress. You can do a mesh tee under it too.

If you can’t get in for the show you can always FaceTime with me and we can show you the line.  I have already done it twice this week and it works out well. I really love this sweater and the orange is terrific BUT we love pink so Planet made it exclusively for us in their new quartz pink.  It is beautiful.

Not everything but lots of things, including most of the jewelry is marked down from 30-70%.  With this cold weather there are lots of warm turtlenecks and tees, scarves and mittens and socks to keep you warm.  Or stock up for next year’s gift giving season.  Just don’t hide anything where you won’t be able to find them like I would do!

I am sorry to say we are still waiting on some people for our Off the Rack series to finalize a date so we hope to have some news soon and I will get that out to you ASAP.

Congratulations to Monique Cohen who won our 500 dollar shopping spree!
Thanks to everyone who participated and we will do it again very soon.

And now if you will forgive me a little bit of politics:

My friend Steve Dettlebach is running for Attorney General of Ohio. Please join me for a reception with him on Sunday, January 21, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm
at the home of Jane Campbell in DC.

Steve spent the last 25 years as a federal prosecutor. Most recently, he served nearly seven years as U.S. attorney for the northern district of Ohio, for which President Obama nominated him and the Senate unanimously confirmed him. As northern Ohio’s top federal prosecutor, he garnered bipartisan accolades for fighting corruption and defending civil liberties.

Attorneys General around the country are leading the fight against unjust and unconstitutional policies – starting with legal action to block the travel ban. State AG’s are defending the Constitution, fighting gerrymandering and voter suppression, protecting healthcare, the environment, and the public good. Steve has the knowledge and backbone to hold politicians from Columbus to DC accountable and defend the rule of law.

Even for those of us in “the swamp,” it matters tremendously who holds this important office in a swing state like Ohio. I hope you’ll join us on January 21 to meet Steve and help him kick off his campaign. Here is the official invitation with all the information.
Thanks for your indulgence.  I just can’t help myself.  I mean it is DC after all where my dear friend Elaine says politics and fashion do mix!
Don’t forget the Golden Globes are on Sunday and for those of you who did not see Meryl Streep at the KenCen Honors, go to youtube and put in Meryl Streep introducing Carman de Lavallade.  I have not stopped laughing.  There is a reason she is our best actress.  Again, she is Meryl so she gets a pass for the dress.
Don’t forget we are open on Saturdays from 12-5 if you are in the neighborhood!
Again, we wish you the happiest and healthiest of days this year.
