Lots of news from Upstairs on 7th!

Our LOBBY is finally open again and it is fantastic!  We cannot wait for you to see it.

It looks like google headquarters!

Mark your calendars if you have not already done so for our holiday party on Tuesday, December 3rd! Since so many of you live far from the store we are going to have the party all day so you won’t have to miss a thing.  We will also stay open until 7 or until the last person leaves so you can also stop in after work. We’ll have lots of champagne and small bites all day so please come and toast the holiday season with us. We will have a photo booth for part of the time and will let you know what the time frame is as soon as we know.
We’re also going to use the party to kick off our holiday giving campaign. We came up with a way to help those in need during this and all seasons and we hope you will want to help. We are going to be putting together bags of necessities for you to distribute to the many homeless people in our neighborhoods.
Here is how it will work: Below is a list of what we will be collecting. These are items that we’ve researched to understand what is most needed. Bring us any of these items between December 3 and December 14th. We will be making up bags (that will also include a list of resources in the District) during the week of December 16th. We plan to distribute some and you can also pick bags up starting on December 18th to distribute yourself. We’ll have them available until the end of the year or until we run out. For those of you who are out of town and want to contribute, please send items to us by the 14th, or we will gratefully accept donations by check and use the funds to buy items for the bags. Thank you for giving back with us!
ITEMS THAT WE WILL BE COLLECTING:
Warm Socks (they should be black and good quality)
Washcloths
Kleenex packs
Band-Aids
Wipes (that do not have alcohol as an ingredient)
Travel toothbrush
Travel size toothpaste
Chocolate (Dove Promises/Hershey’s Miniatures)
Soft Snacks (Granola Bars/Soft Cookies)
Tuna and Cracker snack packages
Lip Balm
Travel Size Lotion
Gallon Sized Plastic Bags (these should be the kind that has the zipper closure so that they will last)
We have already received lots of items but we can always use more.  One of our customers ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon and just sent it directly to us.  We never would have thought of that but isn’t that a great idea?  Great idea for this and for other charities you might be giving to as well.
Don’t forget that we are closed on Thanksgiving weekend  We will be open on the Wednesday before until 6 as usual.
There are six LESS Christmas shopping days this year and even less than that for Chanukah as it starts on December 22nd so come in soon for all the gifts you will need for the best selection. We WILL be open the three Sundays before Christmas 12-5.
Katy and Annemieke are at it again.  Katy did some paintings and Annemieke made silk and cotton scarves from the designs with matching necklaces.  They are gorgeous.
They are sold separately and they are really beautiful.  Annemieke will be here in late January for a trunk show of all her new pieces.  She is always creating new items and right now she is in Istanbul with Ray Harris.  Who knows what those two will come up with!
We kept our favorite pieces from the Norma Kamali trunk show so if you didn’t get to stop in we still have them!
This dress is so beautiful and we have one very similar to it in plain black as well.
It is even prettier in person.
HBO Documentaries has a new one on Ralph Lauren that is fantastic and also watch Lobby Baby on Netflix, with Seth Myers for some really funny stories.
For those of you who love ceramics, (and who doesn’t?) you should go to District Clay to see the new show by Robert Biles.  His work is amazing and very thought provoking.  Here is a fabulous piece about giving blood in honor of his parents.  Note that the people are all different races.
Find all the information you need about this show and all the great work they are doing at districtclaycenter.com.
Go see Harriet with the amazing Cynthia Erivo.  Even though you know how it turns out you are on the edge of your seat the entire movie.  When it is over you’ll wonder why they are holding up putting Harriet Tubman on the 20 dollar bill.
Hope you had a great weekend and we hope to see you soon!
