We have to close our store given the growing health crisis. We will open as soon as we can. Please stay healthy and know that Katy, Barbara and I are all thinking of you and cannot wait to see you as soon as we can.
We have postponed our conversation with Ruth Marcus but we will reschedule. We are hopeful we can be back to do our Small Piece Art Show on Wednesday April 22nd but we will keep in touch with you on that.
Over the years so many of you have asked me to come over and go through your closet. Well it looks like now would be the time to do it using face time. (Over a 1,000 people get this email so I hope I have not created a monster.)
Before you call make these piles:
Items you will never wear again.
Items that you will never part with.
Items that don’t fit and may never again. (Size 4 jeans: I’m so sorry. I did so love you.)
Items that you want to use for our July Recycle Sale AND
Items you are not sure about.
THEN call me at our regular store number which is my cell number, 301-351-8308, and I will face time with you and help you make decisions if you need my opinion. (Ok, I know a lot of people out there just said to themselves: is there anyone MORE opinionated than Ricki?) The answer is a resounding NO. Just ask my family.
Also, while you’re at it, you can clean every single cabinet in your whole house. You don’t need my help for that but I intend to do that myself!
Here are a few more things we can all do:
Read a book. Send us your favorites.
Binge watch the two biggest train wreck can’t look away series ever: Love is Blind and Marrying Millionaires. You will never get that time back but they are just the thing to take your mind off this train wreck of a virus.
Watch every movie you ever wanted to see and didn’t.
I just ran out of ideas. This could be a little boring. Send me more ideas about what to do and I will pass them on.
I will be in the store to pick up packages that are being sent here and to get the mail a few times a week. I will send out your Ray Harris special orders as I get them because I know you will be home because where else would you all be? In addition to checking on those things we have received lots of calls to face time and send out boxes to your homes and I am happy to do that. Just email me or call and I will let you know when I am planning on coming in.
Also, if you get lonely feel free to email me at Upstairson7th@aol.com or Katy at Katy@thecuratedgroup.com.
You can call or facetime with me as well but I warn you that I may not have makeup on. Then you can really see how different I look and how my skin is not nearly as good as many of you think it is. You have been forewarned so this email will serve as evidence in case you get scared to death, faint, hit your head and sue me. You will not be bothering me since I will just be doing what is in the list above and the cabinets will wait. No one is going anywhere.
I have received so many hilarious emails that have made me laugh so if you receive something that is funny please email it to me. I will compile them and send regular emails out so you can laugh too. If you don’t want to laugh you can always unsubscribe from our email list and I promise I totally understand. We all get too many emails. Here is my latest funny one:
Lastly, I have had this store for 13 amazing years. Having Katy here as my partner and co owner has been the best bonus. Hanging out with Barbara, the most loyal worker, has been so fun. Meeting all of you has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. At my age, like all of you, I have had my share of loss, disappointment, and a few regrets along the way, but as my best friend Maddy always says: I always land on my feet. I will this time too. I will NEVER close Upstairs on 7th permanently.
Now, if you want to laugh so hard you will cry go to this:

Stay safe, stay healthy and we will see you soon.
