Upstairs on 7th: Fashion, Covid and RBG

Happy second day of fall! It feels like fall out there. Have all of you that have been watching the Home Edit, cleaned out your closets and taken out your jackets and coats? For those of you who haven’t watched it on Netflix, it is super fun, though be forewarned it may make you want to raid a Container Store and you will have dividers in your refrigerator before it is all over.
Before we tell you what has arrived in the store (and we have received so many items it is almost too many to put into one email no matter how long,) let us first say again how sad we were to hear of RBG’s passing. No matter your politics, she was a true trailblazer and it isn’t an exaggeration to say that our solely women-owned business would not exist without much of the legislation that RBG supported, fought for, helped sign into law and upheld.  All of us women need to keep telling our girls about her! In case you don’t remember everything she did for women a friend of ours put this together and it is worth pasting and sending out so every young girl knows the shoulders she is standing on.
For those of you that might not even realize or understand what all the fuss is about over R.B.G. let me just share a small list that has been compiled from others:
* If you are a woman and hold a job, you have Justice Ginsburg to thank.
* If you were able to keep that job even when you became pregnant, you have Justice Ginsburg to thank.
* If you hold a credit card or a bank account or a house in your name, without the permission of your husband or your father, you have Justice Ginsburg to thank.
* If you are a woman and have consented to your own medical treatment, you have Justice Ginsburg to thank.
* If you were able to marry the person you love, regardless of their gender or yours, you have Justice Ginsburg to thank.
* If you don’t even know the number of rights that you have, because there are too many to count, or maybe because you just take them for granted, you have Justice Ginsburg to thank.
Every single woman stands on the shoulders of this tiny giant, every second of every day; there are not enough thanks in this world for Justice Ginsburg.
Share far and wide. And let’s make sure our daughters get to know her as we have.  #TheNotoriousRBG
Okay, we’re drying our tears and we want to say how thrilled we are that so many of you are coming to the shop, masks and all. When you are here it feels almost “normal” whatever that is these days. And speaking of masks we got some new ones from Ray this week:
It has been really great to continue to see you on Facebook Live on Monday and Wednesdays at 3pm EDT and so much fun to have so many new things to show you.
For those of you who have missed the last few, here is a rundown of what we’ve received,
We received our Natalie Martin order which has a new version of our favorite top. Two, beautiful blue versions and black, because, black. We also received a beautiful navy top and a blue floral dress that Ricki loves. Read that sentence again. A blue FLORAL dress that Ricki loves. Enough to have tried it on. FLORAL. DRESS. RICKI. Never thought you’d see that in the same sentence, did you? Neither did Katy and she’s known her a long time.
We just received our Epice scarf order. We have lots of the Floral one that is always our bestseller. Act quickly if you want one. We always think we buy enough and we are always wrong. The new colors are gorgeous and we have some new styles, too. All super soft and cozy and a perfect gift for the holidays.
We received the rest of our Ray Harris fall order and it is, as it always is, very special. We have lots of pretty crinkle tops (perfect for Zooming,) and dresses that will make you feel like a Queen even if you are the only one seeing it. Being a little dressy is good for the soul and the crinkle dresses are super comfortable, so they are a morale booster and forgiving of all the carb-loading we”ve been doing. They may just be the perfect Covid wear. We will premiere them today on our Facebook Live segment at 3:00 EDT so be sure to tune in.

For all of you grandparents out there I found the absolute PERFECT solution for little kids and adults too for keeping masks close by without losing them  It is the Safe-TEE and here is the link. www.safe-tee.com. I ordered some for my own grandchildren and cannot wait to get them in the next few weeks!  Keeping them safe at school is definitely a priority. The mask tucks into the tee and when they need it, they just pull it out.  Since it is sewn in they can’t get lost. They come in lots of colors and sizes.
Pulled out
Put back in
A great invention born of need!
A couple of things to watch: if you need a really good cry, the documentary My Octopus Teacher will make you good and weepy. It’s beautiful and insightful, well worth a watch. If you are a fan of the Great British Baking Show, The Great Pottery Throwdown on HBOMax is the exact same format, with potters instead of bakers. When you’re done drying your eyes from My Octopus Teacher and finished putting your dividers in your Home Edit bins in your silverware drawer, you can sit back, relax and watch clay pots being made. It’s great! Also, those of you who recommended Masterpiece’s Endeavor, you were right. Anyone who has a sweet tooth for period British detective shows, if you’ve missed this one, you have seven seasons of young Inspector Morse waiting for you.
Come see us.  We are open this Saturday by appointment.  Just let us know! And don’t forget to catch us on Facebook!
