Upstairs on 7th: Gloves, gloves, and more gloves!

Hi Everyone,

When I really like something I go down a rabbit hole. Some of my past late night sleuthing has led me to Minjukim (which will be back in the spring,) the tiny, how does he do it vases, from SGW Labs, and this season’s obsession: GLOVES. I feel like gloves were following me around last March when we were buying for fall. Every time I thought I was done buying them, I found more that the store (and you) “needed”. The result of this momentary lapse of reason is an extremely fashionable selection of gloves in lots of styles, colors, materials, and price points. If you want something sparkly, fuzzy, chic, or dramatic, we have that. If you want leather, wool, faux fur, fingerless, or mittens, we’ve got those too. Red, black, blue, hot pink, khaki, you name it, I bought it.

If you’re the kind of person that loses gloves, there are so many, you can buy two pairs, and if you need a gift for the person who has everything, these will definitely fit the bill.

Here are just SOME of them.

We received some additional pieces from Another Archive and they are a great backdrop for all of our accessories. Here they are with Angela Caputi, Epice, and Zilla.
A friendly reminder that if you haven’t signed up for our conversation with M.T. Connolly, author of The Measure of our Age on Wednesday, October 25th, now would be the time to do so, so that we can start to get a final count (we’ll give you one more reminder next week, but do let us know if you are already planning to come).

Bring as many friends as you like because our new conference room has chairs for over 100 people. Since all of us will someday face the challenges of caring for or being cared for at the end of our lives this is the conversation you want to attend.

M.T. Connolly, a lawyer and leading expert on elder justice was the architect of the federal Elder Justice Act. She was the Coordinator at the Elder Justice ad Nursing Home Initiative while at the US Department of Justice and she is the leading expert on elder care, elder justice and how to make our lives more meaningful as we age.

We will have the book here and M.T. will stay to sign them for you.

Dinner will be served in the store starting at 6:00 and at 7 we will go into the new conference room for the conversation. Be sure to RSVP so that we order enough dinner for everyone.

I just got back from buying spring and summer in Paris and Ray was there to lend his eye and advice (he has taught me so much over these last couple of years about inseams and shoulder drops!) He gave me some clues about the things he is working on for the trunk show: put it on your calendar if you haven’t as you will not want to miss it.

There will be lots of one of kind jackets AND a whole new fabric to add to the crinkle and cotton we currently have. The new fabric will be available in a dozen colors to start and Ray will be bringing all the samples for ordering.

We will also have a selection of Ray’s Vintage collection and there will be some great surprises in that part of the show.

Ray and I were also very inspired by a piece we saw and have a little something up our sleeves that we might have ready for November, but if not for the holidays, then to order going forward. More on that soon.

Suffice it to say it is going to be another banner Ray Harris show from

November 8th-11th, with special hours forthcoming.

PS-A little preview of spring: stripes, trench coats, blazers. botanical prints (I only bought one. I behaved.) Khaki, orange, and pants (So. Many. Pants.)

And now for a bit of levity:
We are here today and tomorrow from 11-5 and on Saturday 1-5.

You can see us live tomorrow on FaceBook at 2pm and watch reruns any time on our Upstairs on 7th page.

We hope to see you soon and until then, be well and take care of one another,

Ricki and Katy
