Upstairs on 7th: It May Surprise You…

…that we still have some gloves left? It’s true!

But, many of you have taken advantage of the rather (ahem,) GIGANTIC assortment and shopped for yourself and gifts early. So, thank you! You made my dreams of being a glove store for a minute a reality.

In other shop news, we received the last of our Giada Forte order and we have these three pieces left. The fur is faux, but it feels incredible. Just a note that it is a true size 0/2, so if you are petite and want the most luxurious and animal friendly fur, this piece is waiting for you. The other two pieces are size 1, but would easily fit a size 4-8/10 on top depending on your should width.

This is a good time to mention that if you are ever FaceTiming with us or want us to ship to you, the best way for us to make sure you end up with the right size is for both of us to get our tape measures out.

With designers from all over the world, the fit models are many shapes and sizes, thus the clothes are too. One size 12 and another are not necessarily the same. Also, designers tend to change fit models over time, so if they lose someone from one season to the next, even if their new model is the same size, they may have completely different measurements.

This is exactly why, for example, you may have sizes XS-L in Rundholz in your closet. It could also be because chocolate is delicious and you love pasta like we do but let’s chalk it up to a fit model quitting. This is what we call self-care, right?

Here are the three new Giada pieces. Grab them while you can or you’ll have to wait until spring to add one of her exquisite outerwear pieces to your wardrobe.

We received the first of three knits we will receive from Another Archive. These are hand knit pieces and they are really thick and cozy. They have such a great chunky feel to them and yet they are not as heavy as you would think. They would be great in place of a coat with jeans, over a dress, or paired with a great pair of fall boots. The combat boots with lug soles that were all over last season are still a big part of this fall/winter, so if you didn’t find the perfect pair a year ago, you can start the hunt again. Ray and I saw some in Paris we loved, but when we chased them down, we found that their price tag was more than most mortgages, which shouldn’t have shocked us (with great taste, often comes great cost,) but did drive us towards another cheese plate.
This is the final call to sign up for our conversation with M.T. Connolly, author of The Measure of our Age next Wednesday, October 25th. If you plan to come, if you could let us know no later than Saturday, that will allow us time to make sure we have enough food. If you’re unable to come and have previously RSVP’d, please let us know that, too.

M.T. Connolly, a lawyer and leading expert on elder justice was the architect of the federal Elder Justice Act. She was the Coordinator at the Elder Justice ad Nursing Home Initiative while at the US Department of Justice and she is the leading expert on elder care, elder justice and how to make our lives more meaningful as we age.

The books have arrived and M.T. will stay to sign them for you.

Dinner will be served in the store starting at 6:00 and at 7 we will go into the new conference room for the conversation.

The first bits of the Ray Harris show are starting to make their way across the ocean and the glimpses we’ve seen are very exciting. It’s his season of jackets, but there are also some new dresses that are really spectacular. Season after season he really delivers beautiful new shapes to mix and match with our existing wardrobes.

Ray will officially be in the U7 house from November 8th until November 11th so if you are traveling to DC for the show (as so many of you do and we are so, so, grateful to you for that,) make your plans asap. You really don’t want to miss this one. We say that every time, but it’s true every time!

And now for this week’s memes:
We are here today and tomorrow from 11-5 and on Saturday 1-5.

You can see us live tomorrow on FaceBook at 2pm and watch reruns any time on our Upstairs on 7th page.

We hope to see you soon and until then, be well and take care of one another,

Ricki and Katy
