Due to the outpouring of love and tears, mixed with a touch of outcry and total anxiety, Ricki is staying and KATY is semi-retiring!
(The second part of this sentence is not true.)
Dear Clients and Friends, (this is Katy btw,) the adoration you have shown my Mama at the announcement of her quickly dwindling semi-retirement plans, makes me even more proud of her and the business and community she’s built, but as I have pointed out to her, most of you who are sad to see her go (and she is going to be here Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, an occasional Saturday and covering for me when I need to be away from the store AKA she is taking Tuesdays and Thursdays off,) are retired yourselves!
She has worked hard for 60 years and now she needs to play just as hard.
Fortunately for all of us, she raised me to appreciate beauty and well-made things, and she has the most amazing taste, which I hope has rubbed off on me.
All this to say, I’ve got you, and I promise I’m the one who has been buying for you for the past three years plus, so I know I have to keep up the black and knock off the flowers (some of them, anyway). Also, I LOVE to do the buying and your good friend Ricki does not enjoy it at all! I am more than happy to find anything you want and need (just tell me and remember I’m six months ahead).
I solemnly swear that I know I have big, big, Trippen shoes to fill.
With that being said, I am going to pass the email back to Ricki and look for some memes for the end of this email. Everyone feel better? Phew!
Oh my. goodness, you ladies!! This is Ricki now. In the last week I feel like I am hearing my celebration of life eulogies. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all your kind words and I will be here I promise every Monday, and Wednesday and Friday afternoons so again, it is only SEMI retirement. On the other hand I am looking forward to being able to go to our fabulous museums and a chance to have some adventures before I can’t.
We have lots and lots of great interesting gifts for your co workers as well as your friends and family. Lots to use for stocking stuffers.
