Here is what is in the store right now: Planet, of course. Banana Blue just arrived five minutes ago, Rundholz or what is left of the first shipment, Niche, Ray Harris, amazing scarves from Frog and JP Chantal, Heydari, Elemente Clemente, a few pieces left of Kedem Sasson, Lunn including the spandex like last year that sold out twice, Dress to Kill, Porto including fabulous pants from them as usual, Matt and Nat and Sondra Roberts handbags, and some incredible jewelry if I do say so myself. IF you are waiting for the weather to change then you did not read the New York Times Style Magazine on Sunday. July is when we buy winter coats and January is when we buy linen white pants. Crazy.

With the Labor Day holiday coming, the Jewish Holidays coming and Fashion Week starting, here are some important dates to note.
We are closed next Monday for Labor Day and closed on Wednesday for Rosh Hoshonah. WE ARE OPEN Saturday, the 7th of September because the second Saturday of the month is Yom Kippur and I have much to atone for! As usual. Thank goodness we get a fresh start every year.
Don’t forget the trunk shows: on Friday, September 20th we have Annemieke Broenink coming from Amsterdam and on Wednesday, September 25th we have Anarchk and Jet Mous coming all day. Jet makes the bubble necklaces we all love and Ana of Anachk makes some fabulous dresses and some very comfortable sportswear. Don’t miss the chance to meet all three of these great designers.

The March on Washington on Saturday was really wonderful to be a part of. I was 14 years old at the time of the first one and I remember in my confirmation class in Cleveland Rabbi Lelyveld telling us all about it. He was an important Rabbi in the country. He was known for his activism and was so involved that he almost was fired. At his funeral a choir from a Baptist church sang. Their minister went to the March with him. I thought of him as I walked with my friend Bicky Corman to the MLK Memorial. The speeches were wonderful especially John Lewis, Rande Weingarten and Cory Booker. There were lots of very angry people from North Carolina. It is really shameful that we are allowing these ridiculous voting laws to take place. A student ID is now acceptable to join the army but it is invalid to vote. We should be fining people for NOT voting, not taking away their right to cast a ballot. Nothing makes me more angry. That, and the fact that a lot of children in this country do not get a good education. Nothing is more important. Towards the end as we started to leave the Lincoln Memorial a black woman touched me on the arm as we passed each other and said “thank you for standing with us today.” I said, “how could I not?”
Have a safe and happy Labor Day!
