On Sunday I was standing at the elevator at ABC Carpet and Home in New York with a very tall and very gorgeous, and did I say THIN beyond words? woman and I say to myself, that is Taylor Swift! And indeed it was! So I get in the elevator and I press my floor, and she presses hers, and then a lot of people get in and she goes to the back and pretends to read the card on the back of the elevator so that we won’t recognize her and cause a scene. It sort of made me feel sorry for her because she was doing exactly what I was doing except that if too much was made of her she would have to either hide in an office or leave. No one was going to bother me. So we all pretty much said nothing except everyone was smiling and thinking to themselves: we’re riding the elevator with Taylor Swift! She has the most perfect gorgeous skin and she was wearing a black pencil skirt and brown top with fifty inch heels. Red red lipstick and lovely. All alone too. You know this completely satisfies the stalker in me! She was in town for the Met Gala the next day.
MORE Comfy and Sun Kim came in and more will be here in July and then again in late September in case you wanted to know. Some beautiful sweaters from Dress to Kill in green, red or purple came in. They look like Issey Miyake without the 1,000 dollar price tag. The best shirt ever from Planet is here in black with the pinstripe and the white on order so those will be here soon AGAIN. We cannot keep that particular one in stock. See picture below AGAIN. It bears repeating because it fits everyone and it looks great on everyone. I got in lots of jewelry for gifts and the items cost between 70 and 85 dollars. Remember your mom or your graduate or yourself!
A bit of very sad news. My friend Bonnie Lewin, the woman that sold my house in three weeks and who I knew from college when I was 18, was getting off the Vamoose bus in New York last week when it was pouring rain and headed across the street in the crosswalk when the light changed. A car hit her and she unfortunately passed away. She was the only person I knew when I moved here and she was so nice to me that I will always be grateful. She was a wonderful person, wife, mother and grandmother and terrific friend. Lots of people are going to miss her including me. I am never going into a crosswalk at the last second again. I am not going to jaywalk again either because I admit I do it here ALL THE TIME!
I WILL BE OPEN THIS SATURDAY FROM 12-5 as it is the second Saturday of the month!! So don’t panic, you have time to get your Mother’s Day gifts for your mother or yourself. My favorite line about Father’s Day gifts is this: The only thing I want for Father’s Day is to play golf on Mother’s Day! Remember we have gift certificates as well.
Have a happy, safe Mother’s Day and weekend. See you at U7 soon.
