A Beautiful Bride, Canary Yellow and Box Pleats!

Let me start by saying no one does pageantry like the British. They even got the sun to shine at just the right moment. Westminster Abbey looked beautiful but not pretentious with those beautiful trees and the altar done in white and green flowers. And now for the fashion!

The bride was so beautiful and her dress I suspect was even more stunning in person. It had the most lovely ruffle in the back but it was a little obscured by the veil. Right at the end, as she walked out, I noticed it. Her tiara was very pretty, a little understated, but I think that was what she was going for.

Carole Middleton wins for best mother of the bride/groom/stepmother/grandmother/princess of Kent outfit. It was impeccable. The color was amazing, the hat gorgeous and the detail on the sleeves was stunning. But it was the fit that was really perfect.

The Queen looked like a canary. Ok, I said it. I KNOW that she has to stand out so that her subjects can see her but I mean BRIGHT YELLOW? BRIGHT YELLOW? And of course she was wearing a white purse and shoes. Does she not know that Memorial Day is not for another month? Her brooch was fantastic and I hope Princess Catherine inherits it!

Now we have to make a pact: IF you weigh more than 110 pounds and you are going to be on television with over a BILLION people watching, pinky pledge right now that you will not wear BOX PLEATS AROUND YOUR HIPS!! I have to say that the woman that designed Camilla’s coat obviously hates her. Somewhere in heaven Diana is laughing really hard. She did have a nice hat and I say that because my mother and father asked me repeatedly to say nothing if I did not have anything nice to say. So I say now: Camilla wore a nice hat.

Speaking of WAY COOL hats: the award goes to Victoria Beckham. Her hat was the best one there and she looked fantastic in navy. She also wins for best shoes that I could never walk in. They were way amazing. SHE has more style in her little finger than say, Camilla in her whole body!

Worst hat or hats go to Fergie’s girls. Oy.

My most favorite part was when William leaned over to Kate and said how beautiful she looked. They both looked so nervous on the way in and then so happy in the carriage on the way to the Palace. Here’s hoping they have a great and long and happy marriage.

And remember you have all pinky pledged no box pleats!!!
