And that is: wool sweaters are here from Ivan Grundahl! Charcoal gray and black of course. Could it even be any HOTTER?
The black stripe goes all around the back of the sweater. There is also a turtleneck in the same charcoal fabric but I didn’t want to make you hot just looking at it.
It is very nice and cool in here so come and shop the sale as everything is 35-80% OFF and there is now a ton of jewelry in the mix. All the Maria Calderara is 35% off and there are so many fab pieces. There are some Angela Caputi pieces at 40-50% off and pieces from just about every jewelry line other than Annemieke, Nach, Milliana, Monies, and the new Angela Caputi. Definitely some amazing pieces to be had. We have a little Ray Harris, Rundholz, Moyuru, Ace and Jig, Giada Forte, Creatures of Comfort, Spirithouse, New Form Performance, Comfy, Jason, Sun Kim, Dress to Kill, Amanda Bond, and Planet all priced to go home with you!
Speaking of Planet: as you know the Planet Trunk Show with our favorite stylist Leslie is Wednesday, August 2nd and Thursday, August 3rd BUT I had her send the sample line early so that if you are out of town or you cannot make it on those days, you can still see the line and order what you want. It should arrive in the store today but if you want to make sure it is here, just email me. This season I must say it is probably the best it has been and there are some really great sweaters, funky terry cloth pieces and wonderful gabardine and matte jersey. There is no better fabric than gabardine for fall. Here are a few pieces.
I love this gabardine jumper. They show it sleeveless but I would wear something under it of course.
I love this pant with any of the sweaters and this top is great.
Annemieke is coming to Upstairs on 7th for a trunk show on Wednesday, August 16th and Thursday, August 17 with all of her beautiful new styles. She has sent some amazing necklaces as PRESENTS for the first 12 people that come in so we hope to see you at the store those days. It is a good chance to order the exact color in the style you want and if you have not met her yet, you will fall in love with her. She is so terrific!
Here is one of her new pieces that I already want in a few colors as it makes for a good background piece:
This picture has the long triangle mixed in:
And there is more:
Thank you so much Ellen Gillinsky for inviting me to Richmond to see the YSL exhibit. It was very interesting. My favorite thing was the paper dolls he made when he was only 15 years old. You can already see his style.
And here are some of the story boards that he did for every single collection.
You can’t tell but at the bottom of each picture was the name of the model that wore it in the fashion show. The early ones were paper dolls and then he switched to drawings.
And here is the famous Mondrian dress:
And an outfit from his Russian series:
I think I may have saved you a trip! Isn’t it interesting that the first story boards had paper dolls too?
Is it too soon to put the Ray Harris trunk show on your calendar? Because of Fashion Week and the Jewish Holidays, the show will be Friday, September 22nd, Saturday, September 23rd and SUNDAY, September 24th. Mimosas for everyone! If you have a special event you want a special dress for, this is the show to see. For those of you who have not met him yet, come and meet the most wonderful person on the planet and one of the most talented. If you have his black pin jacket he is doing it in denim with gold, silver or black pins. It is fantastic.
Every day we are getting in new fall pieces. We already have some Giada Forte although we have sold six pieces already. Today we should be getting Heydari, Tuesday, our Planet pieces that we ordered for the store for instant gratification and on Thursday we will get the fall Comfy, Sun Kim, and Jason. At least if all goes well. And that brings me to Rundholz. We bought all three lines this season because we cannot help ourselves. It is like being a kid in a candy store. I have not had any ship dates as of this minute but I do have some pictures just to whet your appetite. If you love green, this is the season for you. Don’t worry, we did buy black, of course. But this season it is the reds, the greens and the plaids and tulle that really caught our eye. And the hand is the theme. Here are a few of the pieces we loved and cannot wait for!
Pretty great, right?
Have a great week and be sure to come and see us!
