Upstairs on 7th: Oh my, it’s July

Happy July!
The above serves as your friendly reminder that it is, in fact, July.
Also, belated Happy 4th of July, because there is nothing that says 2020 like having an extra day off to watch Netflix or some “little musical” about the founding fathers.

It has been really nice to be back in the store. It has almost felt, dare we say it: normal!  We have been so happy to see some of you as you have ventured out and we look forward to seeing more of you as you make your way out into the city.

Our store remains open Monday-Friday 11am-5pm and by appointment on Saturday. This is a flexible schedule, so should you need us to be at the store outside of these hours, please let us know and one of us will be here. We are happy to accommodate you and truth be told we have not left before 6:30 since we reopened.

You are welcome to call and let us know when you plan to visit, but we are happy to welcome you without an appointment. We have felt a natural ebb and flow to the days and we are able to manage having a little less structure while keeping everyone safe. Should we have more than four people in the space at once, we will direct you to wait in our beautiful lobby where there is free wi-fi, lots of space for social distancing and protocols for your comfort and safety.

While in the store, the following is our protocol:
* Masks will be required for everybody in the store by order of the governor and mayor. If you don’t have a mask, we have masks available for sale. We also have disposable gloves for you to use to look through the clothing racks.
* We will be limiting the number of customers to two or three in the store, for a total of four people including Ricki and/or Katy.
* For your use, we have hand sanitizer at various points throughout the store. Our restroom will remain open for your hand washing (and other) needs.
* In addition to our normal care of garments, we will steaming items after they have been tried on if they are not bought.
* If you do not feel 100% healthy, we ask that you please stay home and know we would love to welcome you any time when you are feeling better. We will do the same.
* We have continued to elevate our cleaning program, sanitizing frequently used surfaces, doorknobs, railings, etc., and we are taking other measures to make sure our store remains as safe as can be.
We hope that by implementing these measures we can substantially reduce the risks of contracting the virus while at the same time helping to make you feel comfortable shopping with us.

Now for the fun stuff! We got new things last week! Like a real shipment. It felt so odd and so great! We received some new items to get us through these really hot summer months, including 20th Anniversary scarves from Epice. For those of you who are fighting with the A/C being on and freezing while it is 100 degrees out, this is your solution. And a gorgeous one at that! Made of very light cotton they are really beautiful.

We also received the summer pieces of Giada Forte and Natalie Martin, including the highly collectible Taylor tops that are just made for us.

We have lots of Ray Harris masks so you have not missed out on them and we expect some leopard ones by the end of the week.
We finally are able to get manicures, pedicures and haircuts.  Make sure the shop you are going to is doing what shops like Celadon are doing so well to keep everyone safe. Plastic curtains between stations with only a few stylists at a time, only one person in the manicure room at a time with thick plastic between the manicurist and yourself.  Emery boards are either given to you or thrown away and all the equipment is sanitized and only used for you.
If your shop is not putting in dividers or socially distancing and doing all they can to keep you safe, you should find one that does. And of course you should wear a mask at all times. Speaking of Celadon, another fabulous neighbor, TOSCA, will reopen on July 8th! We can smell the focaccia bread already!
Have you been watching anything great? We both love the new Perry Mason and I’ll Be Gone By Dark, both on HBO. We may have bought Disney+ for a year, mostly to watch Marvel movies…not!

We have also fallen in love with the Holderness Family on Youtube. If you need a good laugh about the state of the world, and we all need a moment of levity every now and again, this will do the trick. We just sat and laugh/cried and binged about ten of these videos. Oh, and when we need a break from clothes, we watch America’s Got Talent golden buzzer videos and cry. It’s going to stay super hot this week, next month, and the one that comes after that that may blend into this one if we don’t all do our best to keep ourselves and each other safe, so come visit us and get something light to look pretty in.
