Fashion City

I don’t know about you but I spent yesterday crying. What a sad day. I think I felt worse yesterday than the actual day and I was trying to figure out why. For one thing, although I was in Cleveland and had to evacuate because that is where the Shanksville plane turned to go towards DC against the tower’s instructions, I was not in NY or here so I wasn’t scared. I mean if someone wanted to hurt the US you don’t immediately think of Cleveland as a big center of ok, anything. I think that ten years has given us all hindsight and an appreciation for what we really lost that day: our innocence. We now know about the brave people on the Shanksville plane. We know that 76 kids lost both of their parents. We know that 343 firefighters died. We know that so many of the firemen and police that were there working are now dying of cancer and other diseases because they stayed long after the fires were doused to untangle the mess. What struck me yesterday is that a fireman said “Two 110 floor towers fell and we did not find one desk, one computer, not even a single telephone. It had all turned to dust.” They only took ten seconds to fall. That is almost a blink of an eye. Then I thought about how united we all were that day and the weeks that followed and how nice it would be to recapture some of that spirit. Every time I go into New York, I look down as the city comes into view and I still miss those towers, soaring above everything.

So on that very happy note: next week, Wednesday and Thursday the 21st and 22nd of September, Ray Harris will be here at the store. He will be here as late as you need us to stay both nights and he is bringing lots of pieces you can take home with you. If you have not met him, don’t miss this because he is so nice and his clothes are so special. For those of us that have been meeting him the last four years we know how fun it is to add to our drawer of Ray Harris clothes. With Ray here instead of just the rep, you can have a custom made anything! A percentage of the sales will go to Stand for the Silent too.

Andy, the rep for KEDEM SASSON is coming for one day on Saturday, October 14th so you can order any of the Kedem for spring and Lilith will be here on October 5th and 6th. All the details are on the events page of my website.

Manouk is here, Planet and Guido sweaters are here, Spirithouse will be here on Thursday for sure in the late afternoon and Sissy Yates brought by some gorgeous new pieces that are pictured on the right. (Click on the photo to see it bigger!) Lilith is all here now and Dress to Kill finally showed up! I am also expecting the rest of the Crea as it is in customs and Peter O Mahler has also come in. There are only a few pieces left of the Kokomarina but the tulle dress and skirt are fabulous. Niche should be here tomorrow or Wednesday as well. In case you were wondering, this is what I meant by fashion city: lots of clothes and accessories are here.

Have a good week.
