Another Oscar show is over and my big takeaway was yellow.\u00a0 Eiza Gonzalez wore the most gorgeous Ralph Lauren yellow dress and I know just what you are thinking: who is she? It turns out that was the most asked question of the night.\u00a0 Apparently she is a Mexican actress who is no longer a stranger in the US because of that dress and the fact that she is drop dead gorgeous.\u00a0 This is the best example of why fashion matters: the first impression can be very important. Before she walked down that red carpet, few people knew who she was. Fifteen minutes later<\/span><\/span>, her life had changed. (It is possible that she was already world famous but I had never heard or seen her before. How about you?)<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

I think the second most asked question was: what did Mira Sorvino do to her face? Because she doesn’t look like Mira Sorvino anymore.\u00a0 She should have gone to Jane Fonda’s doctor.\u00a0 And speaking of Jane Fonda, a woman that is 80ish who has had more than one facelift, if she wasn’t famous, you would never guess her age.\u00a0 And for once she wore a gorgeous dress.\u00a0 I mean, really, she looked amazing.\u00a0 Having said that, I got an email from one of you gorgeous women out there reading this, who had a very different take on how she looked.\u00a0 She thinks that Jane Fonda looked frozen and portrayed an anti feminist message that tells women if we are not young and beautiful and thin, we are not worthy. I have given that a lot of thought the last few days.\u00a0 On the one hand, at some point don’t we have to age gracefully and accept the fact we are not twenty anymore?\u00a0 On the other hand, when your job demands that you look a certain way, isn’t all that time and expense given to image part of doing your work? Discuss.\u00a0 It\u00a0 is a risk to have a facelift as many actresses have actually ruined their careers because of bad plastic surgery.\u00a0 Seen Melanie Griffith or Meg Ryan in a movie lately? Or Mira Sorvino? Some of that I am sure is the lack of roles for women of a certain age but there are some roles available and they are not going to them.\u00a0 And they are wonderful actresses.<\/p>\n

Nicole Kidman’s dress has received a lot of conversation.\u00a0 I LOVED the color but the front of the dress was something that only she could pull off.\u00a0 On anyone else, well, I don’t even want to contemplate it.<\/div>\n

My favorite black dress was worn by Leslie Bibb who is another actress I have never heard of, but she was there with her boyfriend Sam Rockwell. She is gorgeous and her dress was too.\u00a0 It was by J. Mendel and I know, the picture is terrible. (I cannot use pictures off the internet as they are copyrighted and I don’t want to go to jail for lifting a copyrighted picture! And I do not look that good in some oranges.<\/p><\/div>\n

I loved that Rita Moreno wore her dress that she wore when she won her Oscar.\u00a0 I had the lovely opportunity to meet her once and she is tiny but she somehow manages to fill the room with her outgoing personality.\u00a0 She is incredibly nice and down to earth.\u00a0 I loved Jennifer Garner’s whole look.\u00a0 Very movie star.\u00a0 Liked her dress, didn’t love it but she looked beautiful.\u00a0 Oh yeah, because she is.\u00a0 Viola Davis looked fantastic.\u00a0 I loved her hot pink dress, her hair and earrings were gorgeous and she just looked incredible. Lupita Nyong’o looked her usual amazing self in an equally gorgeous Versace dress.\u00a0 I mean, her style, is always perfect and her skin.\u00a0 I don’t even want to talk about it.<\/div>\n

My Oscar for best dress worn by a mom goes to Margot Robbie’s mother and Margot’s dress was one of the beautiful white dresses.\u00a0 Jennifer Lawrence and Gal Gadot win for best metallic dresses but not Sandra Bullock.\u00a0 Although I do love her.\u00a0 Her asking the lighting director to dim the lights to age 35 was very funny.<\/div>\n

Whoopie, oh Whoopie, you should just wear sweats.\u00a0 Octavia Spencer’s dark green dress was beautiful and she looked so pretty.\u00a0 I am getting a little sick of the slit dresses that some women were wearing so they can stick their leg out like Angelina did, I don’t know, ten years ago?\u00a0 Ok, maybe less, but I am over it.<\/div>\n

I am so glad Allison Janney won.\u00a0 I mean CJ!!!! And Frances McDormand won for best speech by far.\u00a0 She is a great actress.\u00a0 She always does an amazing job just like our bestie Meryl.\u00a0 I think Meryl should insist on sitting in the last row so that the Meryl jokes will stop.\u00a0 Her poor husband looked pained.\u00a0 Their children gave him an Oscar for going to the ceremony for 40 years which I thought was very funny. She looked very pretty but you know I set the bar for her so low because like everyone else, I love her so much. She just has to show up.\u00a0 So I can listen to people making her a running joke.<\/p><\/div>\n

There were very few dresses I didn’t like.\u00a0 One was the Grecian dress Zendaya wore. She is only 21 and she managed to look about 91. And I didn’t like Emma Stone’s outfit.\u00a0 It wasn’t Oscar worthy but she is so pretty.\u00a0 And really talented.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nUsually my favorite accessory is George Clooney but he wasn’t there this year, sadly.\u00a0 I loved Allison Janney’s diamond necklace, and Viola Davis’ earrings, but my favorite accessory didn’t become apparent until Thursday<\/span><\/span> night when Kobe Bryant appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, and he was given a Laker’s jersey for his Oscar. \u00a0That could be a whole new business: Oscar clothes for your Oscar. \u00a0They could change it three times a day like the hosts do!<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Well, that does it. \u00a0Another year, another Oscar, another year of saying we WILL do our arm exercises even though we all know we won’t. \u00a0Well some of you do. But not me. \u00a0If only good intentions could firm them up I would be golden just like Oscar!<\/p><\/div>\n
